A Few Notes On Nutrition & Water Consumption

I’m amazed when I see people at the gym who work out with no water or beverage.  Not a big deal for those who walk on the treadmill for fifteen minutes and then leave, but I’m talking about some of the regulars who do cardio and weights and never seem to drink anything.  Wow.

One former gym regular used to bring in a gallon jug of water (yes) just to drink during his weight workout.   I usually down a 16oz bottle of water (taking frequent sips) during my 45 minute elliptical workout and 8-16 oz of a low calorie sports drink during my weight workout.  To each his (or her) own, but I couldn’t imagine working out without being hydrated.

I’ve been deviating a bit from the strict clean eating I started almost two weeks ago so that’s a sure sign to go back to regular clean eating (“my” version of clean eating which includes other foods in moderation).  I haven’t eaten junk or binged.  Rather, I find that I’m skipping meals because I’m downright tired of eating so much chicken and tuna.

Skipping meals sounds great diet-wise, but it’s not.  I don’t need to screw up my metabolism (any more than it’s screwed up already) and as all dieters know, once you start to feel like you’re depriving yourself, that’s when you go off the deep end to compensate.

Sometime over the weekend I want a treat of some sort (not a binge!) and will incorporate other clean eating and “normal” foods back into my diet.
